Bambu Lab H2C setup: what to remove first
Our Bambu Lab H2C unboxing, step by step: the screws, zip ties, foam, and tape to remove before you power on, and what the first calibration looks like.

Gina's new 3D printer, a Bambu Lab H2C, arrived in a very big box, and Basil walked her through unboxing and setup. We filmed all of it, including the piece of foam we missed. Watch the full video, or use the checklist below the day a printer shows up at your door.

Before you power on: the checklist
- Remove every screw with an orange ring, including the two on the back.
- Remove the four screws holding down the print bed.
- Cut every shipping zip tie (bright blue on ours). Never cut a cord, a wire, or the black belt.
- Pull the foam marked "Please remove this foam," and all the tape.
- Look twice. We still missed a piece of foam and found it during calibration.
Every printer ships a little differently, so keep the quick start guide open as you go.
Open the box from the bottom
Skip the box cutter. A blade can nick a cable, the glass, or the manuals inside. This box opens from four clips at the bottom: pull them out and lift the box straight up by its handles. Keep the box in one piece in case the printer ever needs to go back for service.

Lift with two people
The H2C is heavy. Set it on a sturdy table rated for at least 100 pounds, and lift from the handles under the machine, not the sides or the frame.
Take out the shipping hardware
Screws with orange rings hold the moving parts still on the trip to you, including the ones holding the AMS 2 Pro and the print bed. Take your time here and check each spot the quick start guide shows.

Cut only the shipping zip ties
The shipping zip ties are brightly colored (bright blue on ours). Cut those and nothing else. One wrong snip on a cord or the black belt is an expensive repair.
Set up the AMS 2 Pro
The AMS 2 Pro holds your filament spools and feeds them to the printer. Put the silica packets in their two slots inside it: filament soaks up moisture from the air, and damp filament can bubble and print poorly. Then connect the PTFE tube, the plastic tube that guides filament into the printer, and the six-pin cord.
Power on and calibrate
After one last look inside, power on, follow the setup screens, and bind the printer in the Bambu Handy app. The first calibration showed about 30 minutes on ours, and the printer shakes a lot while it runs. That's normal.
Quick answers
Do I need a box cutter to open the Bambu Lab H2C box?
No. Pull out the four clips at the bottom of the box, then lift the box straight up by its handles. Cutting from the top can damage parts inside, and you'll want the box in one piece in case the printer ever needs to go back for service.
Can one person lift the H2C?
We don't recommend it. It's heavy. Use two people, set it on a sturdy table rated for at least 100 pounds, and lift from the handles under the machine, not the sides.
What do I remove before powering on the H2C?
Every screw with an orange ring (including two at the back), the screws holding down the print bed, every shipping zip tie, the foam marked "Please remove this foam," and all tape.
Which zip ties do I cut?
Only the brightly colored shipping zip ties (bright blue on ours). Never cut cords, wires, or the black belt.
What are the silica packets in the AMS 2 Pro for?
Filament absorbs moisture, and damp filament can cause bubbling and poor prints. The packets go in the two slots inside the AMS 2 Pro to help keep your filament dry.
How long does the first calibration take?
Ours showed about 30 minutes. The printer shakes a lot during vibration compensation. That's normal.
